Teen Sessions

Is Your Teen Struggling With School, Peers Or Regulating Emotions And Behaviors?

Teens have a lot of stressors, plus a bunch of adults telling them what they should be doing. Very few have what research says they need: an adult who can help them figure out what they most want, then create and execute a strategy to reach those goals. Our sessions are aimed at helping teens conquer stress and build self confidence, self reliance and awareness of their own strengths and values. With all the pressures: social media, school, friends, their future, and the expectations, teens are overwhelmed. Their mental health is being compromised and teens don’t know how to cope. From mood swings to school issues, all teens have problems. But sometimes, a teen's distress might rise to a level where it's important to seek professional help. These sessions certainly don’t need to be reserved for life-altering events or serious mental health problems, however.

Having a safe space to process emotions and thoughts can prevent minor issues from turning into major problems.

Trust Your Gut

Something is telling you that your teen’s behavior goes beyond the typical “teenage angst”

You are worried about your child.

You find yourself staying up late thinking about what will happen if that issue is not “fixed.”

You ask your friends about it.

And what are the responses? They just tell you about how difficult their own teen has been lately.

So you do not feel heard.

You know that your teenager has so much potential.

Your teen is smart, funny, and hard working.

BUT

That one issue is holding them back.

That one issue is preventing them from being happy and productive, which is all you really want.

Your Teen May Say:

Nobody understands

I need more freedom

I don’t feel like I’m “Enough”

Friends are fake

I’m uncertain of where I’m going in life

There is too much pressure

I hate the way social media makes me feel, but I just can’t stop looking at my phone.

My parents just don’t understand my life

Everyone else’s life is so much better than mine.

I feel guilty for treating my family so bad, but they just get “on my nerves”

My phone and video games are my escape.

These are Common Thoughts of Many Teens Today

Support Finding a Solution

Providing your teen a safe place to talk is life changing!

The reason there are so many unhappy and unfulfilled adults in the world today is because certain issues were never addressed in their teen years.

Just look around. You see it everyday.

Adults who struggle with:

Unhappiness

Broken Relationships

Struggling Financially

Stress and Self Doubt

Anxiety/Fear

Depression

Addiction

Lack of Self-Control

Add to the list the aftermath of the pandemic, and it’s easy to see why our teens are overwhelmed.

The teen years are so crucial because they help to lay the foundation for the future

If wounds are not healed, then your teen could struggle with the same issues as an adult.

Areas of Focus For Our Teen Clients

  • Academic Success: After clarifying the student’s academic goals and why those goals are personally meaningful, we do a deep dive on what’s working, what’s not working, and why. Drawing from the student’s own strengths and resources, we use evidence-based strategies to create, implement and finesse a personalized plan for success.

  • Emotional Intelligence Levels-Anxiety Reduction: Research shows that adolescent anxiety rates are higher than they’ve ever been. For the teen who is interested in exploring, learning, and putting new tools into practice, therapy can be very beneficial. We explore the teen’s own thoughts and perceptions, evaluating them for current validity, then use proven tools for calming and soothing anxiety.

  • Navigating Social Pressures & Connections: Developmentally, adolescents are wired to focus on connection with peers. When friendships are rocky and connecting is difficult, it can be a crushing experience. We help by navigating what the client’s personal social ideal would be. We move on to exploring their thoughts about social media, what they want and need in relationships, how they’re currently operating, what’s working, and what isn’t working currently. Drawing from various resources, we create and execute a plan for finding social contentment.

  • Self Exploration and Regulation: For the client who wants to understand who they are, what they want, what their purpose is, what their passion is, their gifts, their weaknesses, and much more, we’ll use assessments and organic tools to build a sturdy toolbox of self-understanding and internal and external resources.

  • Ideal College & Career: Many young adults feel they’re at a crossroads without a map. We can help determine what’s most important, on both the macro and micro level, as they explore college and career options.
